This sandal rises to its name, Queen, in the Indian language evoking royal finery. It is made in collaboration with the Marwada tribe of North India.

The technique of gold and silver foil weaving on leather is traditional to this community and is a dying craft. Shahana was developed with the help of three of the five surviving craftsmen of the Marwada tribe that engage in this work today. The colourful threads around the strap of the sandal have been bunched together and hand-sewn individually. It takes an artisan approximately eight hrs to make a pair and another two days to assemble the sandal by hand. The precision of the weaving is apparent in the masterful execution of the design, with no prior preparation.
